Williams Saurian Front
One day I was looking around KLOV (I forgot what game I was looking at) and found this link to a eBay auction of very rare arcade prototype game.
Not sure if this game was ever sold because when I came back, the auction was gone before the time is up IIRC. Neverless I thought this was very interesting gaming history and thought it should be preserved so I copied all the text and pictures from that eBay acution and put it up here to prevent it from being lost. Sorry I don't have a credit for it and I am not claiming any credits for these work.
Text and pictures below taken from said eBay auction.
This auction is for an Extremely Rare 1990 Williams Saurian Front - It is a Factory Prototype for The third installation of the Williams Defender Trilogy (Defender, Stargate, Saurian Front (Strikeforce)) - The machine was NEVER released by Williams, it was released the following year by Midway as Strikeforce(after Midway merged with Williams) - This machine is so rare it is not even listed on KLOV - I believe that THIS MAY BE THE ONLY KNOWN DEDICATED VERSION OF THIS MACHINE - The story of this machine is as follows : This machine was made by Williams as a Factory Prototype for the third installment of the Defender Trilogy, It ended up at an operator in Milwaukee that was given/sold a lot of prototypes back in the day, as they were not only a vendor, but they were the area Williams Distributor - The Machine was played with at the distributor, but sat around a lot and never to be put out on location - The machine has all of the ORIGINAL Williams boards still in it - The sound board chips even say Saurian Front on them - I was told this prototype had some ROM problems and Williams/Midway sent them some new chips to fix it - The game comes up as Strikeforce - The machine is working 100% - It has a revision date of 2/27/91 (which, I believe is still before Strikeforce hit the market from Midway (Williams) - I was told that it is exactly as the distributor received it from Williams with only the ROMs being replaced - The game was then stored until the Vendor/distributor got sold a bunch of years ago - The new owner moved it to their warehouse where it sat for years until I purchased it - The machine is in Beautiful Shape for its age !! - It is an ORIGINAL painted cabinet with Beautiful colorful graphics - THIS MAY BE THE ONLY ONE OF THESE YOU WILL EVER SEE (unless another prototype surfaces) - Williams generally made only a few prototypes - Who knows what happened to the others ?? - The machine is as shown in the photos - I have tried to take detailed photos to show you what you are getting, but please feel free to ask any questions that you may have - Be the envy of all your friends with this awesome game - A must for any Coin Operated, Video Game, Defender memorabilia or Rec-room memorabilia collector!
